I hope I won't spoil it for those of you in more western timezones, but Garcia was the $1000 clue in the first round of JEOPARDY! tonight.

I think that the old boy has finally made it!

There are a few instances of Jerry showing up on Jeopardy..

ROCK $1000: This Grateful Dead leader was named after "Show Boat" composer Jerome Kern

ASHES TO ASHES $400: Deadheads know that his ashes were scattered in the Ganges & beneath the Golden Gate Bridge

THE GRATEFUL DEAD $200: A childhood woodchopping mishap claimed half of this lead guitarist's right middle finger

ROCK & ROLL HEAVEN $200: Deadheads were devastated in 1995 by the death of this icon at age 53

THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED $500: August 9, 1995 in Forest Knolls, California

And on 6/7/06 "The Grateful Dead" was a Jeppardy category.

$200: A childhood woodchopping mishap claimed half of this lead guitarist's right middle finger

$400: Slotted between The Who & Hendrix, the Dead was No. 6 to play at this city's 1967 Pop Festival

$600: The Dead was scheduled to play at this group's ill-fated 1969 show at Altamont Speedway but refused to go on

$800: In 1978 the last of 3 Dead shows near this Wonder of the Ancient World was timed to coincide with a lunar eclipse

$1000: In 1991 The Dead played a memorial concert in Golden Gate Park for this promoter before an estimated 300,000 people
